I am studying for a test coming up in English, I have to know how to analyze poems, can you please help me >?

Here is the poem the title of the poem is unknown but it goes like this………………………………..

“My glad feet shod with the glittering steel
I was the god of the winged heel.

The hills in the far white sky were lost;
The world lay still in the wide white frost,

And the woods hung hushed in their long white dream
By the ghostly, glimmering, ice-blue stream.

Here was a pathway, smooth like glass,
Where I and the wandering wind might pass

To the far-off palaces, drifted deep,
Where Winter’s retinue rests in sleep.

I followed the lure, I fled like a bird,
Till the startled hollows awoke and heard

A spinning whisper, a sibilant twang,
As the stroke of the steel on the tense ice rang;”

Who the writer is writing to?
The meaning behind the poem. I must have evidence to support my answer.

“The Skater”
by Charles Roberts

this poem is called ‘The Skater’ (although only half of it is here) by Charles Roberts. it was written roughly around 1840 i think?its written in rhyming couplets, perhaps to capture the streaming and swiftness of the skater. what also helps this is the use of iambic pentameter (each line has 10 syllables). beautiful imagery is all over the poem (eg glimmering, ice blue stream) sibilance too, particularly in the last couplet above (spinning, sibilant, stroke, steel) – this suggests the speed and smooth movements of the skater as almost snakelike. assonance too in the fifth couplet (deep, sleep). the pace of the poem is very languid at times, but picks up in places – this again serves to underline the speed and movements of a skater as s/he moves across a rink.
