What nail shape would be good for broad hands and thick fingers?

I’m female, and my fingers are thick and long
My hands are broad and are almost masculine looking
Any ideas on how to shape my nails to make my hands look more feminine and less broad looking?

You can try filing them into oval shapes. But based on what my manicurist told me, the best nail shape is determined by the “base” of your nails (the part where the skin meets the nail, where the nail starts growing): if your base is more squared, file it square-shape at the tips; if the base is more oval, it’s best to file the tips oval. That is the best way to maximize your natural shape. If your base shape is squared, you can try growing them longer (about 1/4″ or a tiny bit longer) to give the illusion of longer fingers. That would look just as feminine—-especially since you do have long fingers.

Thanks for the added detail. Yeah, if your nail base is more squared, then you should file it square to match the nail base. If you grow your fingernails to at least 1/4 of an inch, it will make your fingers appear longer and slimmer. I have an old friend from high school with similar hand features as yours. She always keeps her nails filed square-shaped, maintaining them just a bit over 1/4″. In combo with her fair skin, she always paints her nails a deep red or burgundy color year round. It makes her fingers look like those slender “artistic/pianist” hands….breathtaking.
