Is there anything you can do to set acrylic paint into fabric?

i painted cotton shirts with acrylic paint and i just want to know if theres anything i can do to set it before i wash the shirts.

You don’t really have to heat set acrylic paint since it is a *permanent* paint, but to make it stick the best:

…wash before painting, and don’t use fabric softener
…make sure the paint gets down into the fibers of the fabric
…don’t wash completed shirt for at least a week to allow the dried paint to “cure” thoroughly
…perhaps also turn shirt inside out when washing, don’t use the hottest water, and use a mild detergent like Cheer (not Tide)… or hand wash with a liquid hand or dish soap or with Woolite
