Question about applying rhinestones?

I would like to apply some rhinestones of various colors to a small brush that I use for acrylic nails. I’d like to end up with a nice, but simple design. The brush handle is made from some kind of thin metal, and is coated with a black paint. The diameter is about equivalent to that of a wooden #2 pencil, and is round. The other brush has a wooden handle witht the same thickness and shape, and has some coating on it – maybe some kind of varnish? I’m not sure.
My question is what is the best way to apply rhinestones to the brush handles? Should I use a special type of glue to make them adhere better to the surface of the handle, and not fall off very easily?
Or is there something better than using rhinestones for something like this? The only problem that I can see is that the rhinestones – though fairly small, are flat on the back side of them. But, the brush handles are round. Will this cause a problem?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Rhinestones come in many sizes. Use the smallest rhinestone that fits on the rounded handle of the brush. It really depends on how much of the rhinestone hangs over the rounded edge of the handle and where the rhinestone is located in relationship to where your hand grips it.
