Why does makeup, nail polish and contact lenses have to be removed before surgery? Just curious.?

I am always reading about this and was wondering what effects makeup and nail polish has on surgery? Especially something like a c-section.

Nail Polish and Toe polish has to be removed so they can check the blanching in your fingernails or toe nails.

Make up- it’s a sterile environment, plus they watch the skin color. (this also depends on what type of surgery your having.

Jewelry- It’s basically so you don’t lose it or have to worry about it being stolen.

Contacts- If something happens the last thing they want to do is try to fish out a contact and since your eyes roll back in your head when you go to sleep it avoids the contact from getting stuck somewhere in the eye cavity.
