intensive therapy?
does anyone know of an intensive therapy program, I really have a problem talking about things and I’ve gotten into a place I can’t get out of, emotionally. I have basically closed myself off from the world, I don’t have or attempt to make any friends, I don’t leave my house unless I have a Dr. appt or a short outing with the person I live with, I get very anxious, nervous and scared when I’m not at home,I’m not scared of people but I don’t trust anyone, I wouldn’t mind if someone came over I just don’t want to go anywhere at all.Ever.
I’ve tried therapy for years, hated it, it failed everytime, been to groups,tried spiritual and self help books. I have tried almost every anti-depressant, they either make me a zombie or they don’t do anything at all so I refused to take anymore. I have a phobia about meds. I don’t even like to take aspirin. I would appreciate any serious thoughtful replies
I’m not sure what kind of therapy you tried but cognitive-behavioral therapy is most likely to be effective for your severe anxiety problems. I have to wonder, though, if you really want to change. I say that because it looks like you’ve tried a variety of things and nothing has really worked. The common denominator is you… so do you really want to change? If so, then really work at it with a CBT therapist and consider trying different meds or dosages temporarily. As far as an intensive therapy program, I don’t know what city you’re in but many large cities have CBT or Cognitive Therapy organizations with references that you can google.
