Why does my nail hardener leave a rough and not smooth finishing look?

I purchased a clear, glossy bottle of nail strengthener. I like the clean, glossy look, but lately can’t seem to get my nails to dry smooth. They look rough…or coarse.

I’ve noticed this when I paint my nails with my mom’s polishes too and since she’s a manicurist, she said that it was because the polish is either too thick, old, or because of the weather. if it’s too thick, you have to buy some thinner at the beauty supply store. it’s a really big bottle for cheap prices (like 5 dollars). you can also use it for a long time. just put it in the polish and shake or roll it around. if it’s too old, the thinner might work, but your best bet is to throw it away and get another. nail polishes expire after 2 years. if the polish isn’t thick, it’s the weather. if it’s too hot, it might cause the nail polish to dry before you can put it on you nails, so that’s why it’s like that. it can also be that you dried your nails with a fan. i know that it’s instinct to dry your nails with a fan, but in hot weather, just air dry. and stay in a cool place while drying. it may also be because of the application process. when you apply any kind of nail polish, don’t take a lot on the brush. just take enough for one stroke.
